Fear

All fear is based on the idea of sacrifice. This is the "base" of fear. Without the belief in sacrifice, there can be no fear. Realize that you are never asked to sacrifice anything in life, only to decide what is truly valuable. And what you value, you will move towards.

Fear comes up when we confuse our identity exclusively with a body. All fear is of "losing" our self-identity. Fear of concepts comes about when we have connotations of sacrifice associated with those concepts[i].

Frightened people can be vicious, because they draw a small circle around themselves, seeing "attack" on all sides. They believe their self-identity is threatened and thus they have to constantly defend it.  Only by limiting our self-identity exclusively to some parts of reality and not others is this possible.

The ego will continue to have fear until your Self identity isn't threatened. This Supreme Identity doesn't fear anything, because it sees itself arise as all things, and yet is not limited by these things. It includes and transcends them. Your Self-Identity is never truly threatened because God/Reality established it, and can never be taken away from you.

... And Spirit transcends and includes everything.

[i] i.e. some peoples connotations of the word "God."

Q. But isn’t the idea of fear based on the biological “flight and fight” response.  A. Yes, but first it is a perception, and then arises the belief. If the belief is, “I have to sacrifice something,” then you will be afraid. If you don’t believe in sacrifice, you will neither “fly” nor “fight.” And there are those who were willing to stare death in the face. To them the idea of not acknowledging the truth was a sacrifice. Truth cannot be sacrificed, but our awareness of it can be covered up. Only illusions can be sacrificed, and why would we have anything to fear, unless we valued something other than the truth?
